The 10 Best Hotels in Jasper With Kids

We've spent a lot of nights in Jasper. Cabins with the kids asleep by the fire, lakeside mornings with coffee and a canoe, and incredible Christmas holidays where it snowed the whole time and we had views of local wildlife straight out of the windows while we unwrapped gifts. So when people ask us where to actually stay with a family, we don't send them a random booking link - we send them this list.

Let’s chat quick about the wildfires. The 2024 wildfire changed Jasper - some of the hotels we’ve previously adored for family-friendly hotels are completely gone - and some are rebuilding and won’t be ready until at least next season. Most of the park is untouched, and the town is open and rebuilding for the summer 2026 season.

1. Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge | Worth the splurge, especially at Christmas

If you do one big-ticket stay in Jasper, do it here — and if you can swing the holidays, that's the magic window. The Lodge goes full snow-globe for Christmas: skating on frozen Lac Beauvert and Mildred Lake, hot chocolate by the fire in the Emerald Lounge, Santa holding court in his own cabin, and an in-room Christmas tree if December 24 falls in your stay. It's a 700-acre lakeside resort that feels like its own alpine village, and it reopened after a $100-million renovation, so the rooms and Signature Cabins are fresh. There's also a new supervised kids' club (Camp JPL, ages 5–12) for when the grown-ups want a spa hour. Book early, and don't wait.

  • Good to know: ~$50/night resort experience fee on top of the room; holiday dates sell out months ahead

2. Pyramid Lake Lodge | Lakeside base with free summer toys

About six kilometres from town on the shore of Pyramid Lake, this chalet-style lodge is our pick when we want mountains-and-water without the townsite bustle. Every one of the 68 rooms has a Rocky Mountain view, it's open year-round, and in summer your stay includes free canoe, kayak, paddleboat, and mountain-bike rentals — which, if you've ever priced kid activities on vacation, is a genuine steal. There's a firepit and barbecues for cook-your-own mountain dinners. Winter swaps the boats for snowshoeing and fat biking on the frozen lake.

3. Pine Bungalows | riverside cabins that feel like camping (with real beds)

Family-owned since 1936 and set right along the Athabasca River, Pine Bungalows is that "we're in the wilderness but there's a proper bathroom" sweet spot kids love. Cabins come with full kitchens, and each has its own firepit with firewood provided — s'mores sorted. It's a five-minute drive into town, so you get quiet without isolation, and the on-site Kumama Bistro punches well above its weight (more than one family we know called it the best meal of their whole Rockies trip).

4. Patricia Lake Bungalows | the one with the playground

Tucked down a forest lane on Patricia Lake, this one's built for families. There's an actual children's playground and playhouse, a lakeside hot tub, a boat dock with rentals, an outdoor firepit, and indoor games and movies for the inevitable rainy afternoon. Cottages have kitchens or kitchenettes and gas fireplaces. It's peaceful to the point of feeling remote — deer wander the grounds at dusk and the stars are ridiculous — but town is only a short drive for supplies and dinner.

5. Bear Hill Lodge | quiet, comfortable cabins right in town

Our go-to when we want cabin coziness without a car dependency. Bear Hill is the only cabin property actually inside the townsite, tucked in a peaceful corner yet a 10–15 minute walk to restaurants and shops — and just up the street from the aquatic centre, rec centre, and a children's playground, which is gold on a low-energy day. Cabins have gas or wood fireplaces, kitchens or kitchenettes, and genuinely comfortable beds. They're rolling out newly built cabins through 2026, so ask for the updated units.

6. Alpine Village Cabin Resort | log cabins by the river, walkable to town

Authentic log cabins strung along the Athabasca River, about a 20-minute walk (or two-minute drive) from downtown. The cabins feel more hotel-than-hut inside — heated tile bathroom floors, good showers, wrap-around decks with Adirondack chairs — and there are family-sized layouts with lofts and full kitchens. Kids get a kick out of chopping firewood for the fireplace, and elk regularly wander the grounds.

8. Becker's Chalets | riverside cabins with a playground (May–October)

We couldn't leave this one off. Becker's is a family-run cabin resort that's been going since the 1940s, set right on the Athabasca River about a five-minute drive south of town. With 118 chalets across 23 different room types, there's a fit for every family size, from cozy heritage cabins to big duplex log chalets that sleep eight.

The riverside setting is the real draw: colourful Adirondack chairs along the water, a walking path, and elk that wander through like they own the place. There's an on-site playground and a big grassy field to burn off energy, free play pens if you've got a little one, and the on-site Becker's Gourmet Restaurant is a genuine destination in its own right. It's also one of the better values in the park — some cabins come in under $150 a night.

9. Chateau Jasper | recently renovated, with a pool the kids love

A newly renovated hotel with alpine-style decor and pine-forest surroundings where you'll genuinely spot wildlife from the grounds. The indoor pool and hot tub are a hit with kids after a day of skiing or sightseeing, the rooms are spacious enough for a family of four, and the on-site Silverwater Grill means a tired crew can eat well without going anywhere.

10. Marmot Lodge | the value pick with a pool

When you'd rather spend the money on Maligne Lake boat tours and the SkyTram than on the room, Marmot Lodge delivers. Family suites with a separate bedroom, kitchen, and pull-out couch give everyone room to spread out, and the pool-and-spa area is the real selling point for kids. Motel-style and unpretentious, walkable to town, and reasonably priced.
