The local U-pick farms are starting to open for haskap berries, raspberries and saskatoon berries. It’s a great way to get outside with the kids and learn where our food comes from!

  • Whyte Avenue Art Walk
    The Whyte Avenue Art Walk is Edmonton’s first Art Walk with 460 artists sharing their creative talents and lining the streets of Old Strathcona during the second weekend in July. People are invited to buy art directly from the artists and watch as they create. All visual artists, brave enough to share their work, are welcome to participate. The Art Walk is a non-juried event that attracts professional artists, amateurs, and students.

  • FREE STRATHMA Garden Explorers Drop-in Program
    Garden Explorers starts at Strathcona Museum and Archives! Drop by from 10:30–11:00 AM for some garden fun. Kids 4+ and their grown-ups can help us plant the garden, do a simple activity, and take home a bean plant.

  • Plentiful Pollinators
    Your kids are going to love this adventure to Miquelon Lake. Bring them to the lake for these free interpretive programs, all summer long. They’ll learn something, you’ll all get outside and everyone will come home refreshed. Look for the playgrounds, the lake side stretch of sand and trees to climb.

  • Downtown Playdate in Centennial Plaza
    Take a break from work and head outside to try your luck at mini golf on Centennial Plaza behind the Stanley A. Milner Library every Friday from 11 — 6PM. 

  • Ride all Day at the Sherwood Park Wild Rose Carnival
    The midway is back at Sherwood Park Mall! Wild Rose Shows rolls into the mall parking lot July 9–12 with rides for every age, classic carnival games, and all the mini donuts you can handle. Admission is free and rides are ticketed — grab single tickets for $1 or a ride-all-day wristband for $50. Tip: there's a height checker on-site, so measure your littles before you promise them the big slide.

  • Get a FREE Slurpee at 7/Eleven for FREE SLURPEE DAY
    A free frozen drink, no strings attached. Every year on July 11 (get it — 7/11?), 7-Eleven celebrates its name day by handing out free small Slurpees at participating stores across Edmonton and the rest of Canada. No purchase required. Just walk in, grab a small cup, and pick your flavour — or layer three of them, because that's the law of the Slurpee machine.

  • It’s Alberta Free Fishing Weekend
    During Family Fishing Weekends, Albertans and visitors are encouraged to give fishing a try on waterbodies with open fishing seasons without having to purchase a sportfishing licence. If you are using a Special Harvest Licence (Walleye tag), the purchase of a sportfishing licence is still required.

    Enjoy the magic of Fort Edmonton Park with our Disney Movie Month! Start your morning off with a classic Disney favourite, and enjoy exploring Fort Edmonton Park the rest of your day.

  • Little Sprouts Drop in Nature Program
    Join on Tuesday and Saturday mornings in Strathcona County for Little Sprouts Nature Play, a joyful outdoor adventure specially designed for children aged 2–6 years. Through child-led exploration across nine unique wonder spots, little ones are invited to discover, create, and connect with the natural world through hands-on, sensory-rich play.

  • FREE Camp Creatology Drop in at Michaels Stores
    Come in-store for a fun free event! We are partnering with Learn with Michaels our online video on demand and live classes program to promote Camp Creatology with a fun event. Make free wooden space pals, and then go watch the rest of Camp online at Michaels.com!

  • FREE Home Depot Kids Workshop: Build a Car
    If you are looking for a fun activity to do with the family, Home Depot has a great workshop for kids that will teach them about building. Kids can learn how to build their very own Go Kart. All materials included and completely free.

  • Catch a Movie on the Big Screen
    Take your pick of Cineplex’s family favourites with $3.99 movies every Saturday or Metro Cinema’s kids free tickets - you can see The Land Before Time at Cineplex or The Never Ending Story, at Metro Cinema. Both are cheap ways to get your kids out of the sun and into the movie theatre this weekend.

  • Take a Junior Museum Skills Workshop: Archeology
    On July 11, kids can become junior archaeologists and learn from the materials left behind by people of the past! In this hands-on workshop, they’ll dive into a mock dig-pit and learn the skills that help archaeologists make their discoveries, practice repairing broken artifacts, and learn how to figure out just how old these objects are.

  • FREE Edmonton Fire Station Open House
    Every year families have an opportunity to meet firefighters and fire prevention officers in their community, check out the fire trucks and learn important fire safety information during Edmonton Fire Station Open Houses.

  • Catch a performance at Edmonton Street Performer’s Festival
    It's the final weekend of StreetFest! Sir Winston Churchill Square is buzzing with jugglers, acrobats, comedians, and roving characters through Sunday, July 12. Catch a jaw-dropping circle show, let the kids try juggling or stilt-walking at Busker Academy, and don't miss the grand finale on Sunday at 4 pm featuring every performer in the festival. Admission is free, but bring some cash — performers earn their living the old-fashioned way, by passing the hat.
