Blackstone Pirate Playground
Introduction to the Blackstone Pirate Playground
Set sail to the south. Blackstone — the pirate playground in southwest Leduc — is one of those parks kids talk about on the drive home, and it's worth the trip out of the city for the theme alone.
The ship is the centrepiece, masts and all, but the clever part is everything around it: rocks to be marooned on, barrels, ropes, and treasure chests scattered through the play area, so the whole space becomes a story rather than a single structure. There's a climbing wall, a slide, and — the detail kids love — a treasure map worked into the design, plus little critters hidden among the wood chips to hunt for.
It leans toddler and young-kid, and that's the sweet spot. Little buccaneers get imaginative, low-stakes play with just enough climbing to feel brave. It's also a genuinely great photo op — the ship photographs beautifully, and you'll want the picture.
The neighbourhood wraps it up nicely: a small lake, walking paths, and an outdoor rink right there for winter skating (or roller-skating and basketball in summer).

Practical Info for Visiting
No swings on site — the most common wish-list item from visiting families
Best for toddlers and young kids — imaginative and low-stakes rather than a big-kid challenge park
Parking is right on the road in front of the playground
Shade is limited — this is a newer neighbourhood, so pack hats and sunscreen on hot days
A quick, high-reward stop rather than a full afternoon — easy to pair with Meadowview Dinosaur Park on the same Leduc run
