Edmonton Area Hotels with Great Waterslides

Fantasyland Hotel + World Waterpark | Edmonton

If you only do one waterslide staycation this year, this is one of the best things to do in Edmonton. Fantasyland Hotel sits right inside West Edmonton Mall, steps from World Waterpark - home to the world's largest indoor wave pool and 17+ waterslides and splash features across 20 total slides and attractions. At 31°C, it feels like a tropical escape all year round

  • It's an entire day (or three) of entertainment without leaving the building: waterpark, amusement park, mini-golf, shopping, food courts. There's plenty more to do indoors in Edmonton

  • Fantasyland Hotel’s famous themed rooms (Book the Space Themed Room at Fantasyland) are a massive hit with kids. Book early if you’re visiting during summer holidays!

  • All ages fun - waterslides for the older kids, and a full splash zone with slides, for the younger crew

FYI: If World Waterpark is your whole reason for the trip, staying on-site at West Edmonton Mall means you can nap the toddler and go back for round two - a luxury you don't get driving in for the day (plus, you’ll snag a deal on Waterpark tickets)

Sandman Signature Sherwood Park Hotel | Sherwood Park

The Sandman Signature in Sherwood Park has quietly become one of the most-loved family staycation spots in the area - and it's easy to see why. The fast indoor waterslide comes included with your room booking (no separate waterpark ticket, no add-on fee), so the second you check in, the kids are set. We’ve used this one countless time for winter birthday parties!

It's a short, speedy slide, but gentle enough that even younger kids can ride it solo. Bonus for parents: there are lounge chairs right by the slide, so you can supervise the fun from a comfy seat instead of the pool deck.

  • The waterslide, pool, and hot tub are all part of your stay - nothing extra to buy.

  • Chop Steakhouse & Bar is attached right to the hotel, with a solid kids menu at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Little ones don't even need shoes to get there, and Chop handles room service too - clutch after a long day of swimming.

  • Roomy options for every family: suites with separate living areas, kitchenettes, and adjoining rooms (the parents-in-one-room, kids-next-door setup is a game-changer). Plus, the most comfortable hotel beds at this level of hotel that our family has slept in!

  • Close to Millennium Place if you want to make it a waterpark weekend!

  • Prefer to splash outside? See our guide to Alberta's outdoor waterparks

FYI: Pool time gets popular on weekends, so confirm the pool hours for your dates when you book - and grab a table at Chop early on Friday and Saturday nights. The best seat in the house at Chop is the exterior patio fireside table. Grab that and settle in for after-bedtime cocktails when the kids are tired out from the pool.

Calgary & Area

Best Western Plus Port O'Call Hotel | Calgary

A long-time family favourite near the Calgary airport, Port O'Call is built for splashing. It boasts two three-storey waterslides, a couple of hot tubs, and a separate toddler pool - plus a second, quieter pool area downstairs if you (or a napping baby) need a break from the chaos.

  • Two big slides means less "whose turn is it" negotiating.

  • The toddler pool and managed swim times keep things safe and un-crowded.

  • Airport-close location makes it a painless drive-in from almost anywhere.

FYI: The downstairs pool is your secret weapon for a calmer experience - and barely anyone know about this option! Bring a rash guard - even in the summer months we’ve found this pool to be cold (especially for the youngest members of our crew).

Sheraton Cavalier Calgary | Calgary

This one’s a double splash at a family-friendly hotel - right in the heart of Calgary, the Sheraton Cavalier delivers. Its pool area is one of the largest indoor pools in Calgary, with two waterslides (a two-storey and a three-storey), two hot tubs, a wading pool for tots, and — the parent MVP — a bar right in the pool area.

  • Big enough that it rarely feels packed.

  • Separate wading pool for little ones and a lap pool for actual swimming.

  • Grown-up perks (poolside bar, sauna) so you're not just supervising for three hours straight.

FYI: Ask about a room with mountain views — you can see the Rockies from some windows, a nice bonus for a "we're totally on vacation" feeling.

Banff & Canmore Area

Douglas Fir Resort & Chalets | Banff

A bit of a hidden gem — most people don't realize you can get a serious waterslide fix inside Banff National Park. Douglas Fir Resort features two giant indoor waterslides, a kiddie pool, and a big Jacuzzi with indoor and outdoor sections.

  • Take a break from outdoor adventures with a rainy-day-proof indoor waterpark

  • Chalet-style accommodations give families the space you need

  • Gorgeous mountain views

FYI: This is the pick when you want the national-park trip and a guaranteed win with the kids if the weather turns. It also doubles as a great way to splash indoors if the weather turns rainy.

Grande Rockies Resort | Canmore

Our pick for families who want a little more space. Grande Rockies offers condo-style suites with full kitchens (huge when you're travelling with kids who eat on their own schedule) plus a three-storey waterslide, a toddler pool with a little frog slide, and an indoor/outdoor hot tub.

  • Full kitchens and multi-bedroom suites for an easier on the wallet vacation

  • A real slide for the big kids and a gentle frog slide for the toddlers.

  • Walkable to downtown Canmore, and a gateway to both Banff and Kananaskis.

FYI: Make sure you book the right building: As of January 1, 2026, rooms in The Annex building no longer include access to the pool, hot tub, or waterslide (a new policy by the condo board). To use the waterslide, you’ll have to book a suite in the Main Building. Annex guests are instead offered discounted passes to Elevation Place, Canmore's community aquatics centre — nice, but not the same as the on-site slide. Double-check your room type before you book

Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge | Kananaskis

Located at the base of Mount Kidd, the Pomeroy is a Marriott Autograph Collection resort with a mountaineer-themed indoor waterpark that’s perfect for little kids. Three waterslides, a beach-entry leisure pool with splash jets and a water-play table for toddlers. The new heated outdoor pool, and an indoor/outdoor hot tub to add to the luxurious experience.

  • This is for the family searching for a resort: five dining outlets (kids eat free with an adult meal at on-site restaurants), a games room, and daily "KananasKIDS" programming plus drop-in childcare, so you can take part in kid-free activities (like the nearby Nordic Spa).

  • Speaking of the Nordic Spa. The world-famous Kananaskis Nordic Spa is right next door - hot-cold hydrotherapy pools with alpine views. Note it's an 18+ facility and not included with your stay; you book spa tickets separately.

  • Rooms range from standard kings and two-queens to lofts and suites - for all sizes of families.

FYI The indoor waterpark, indoor hot tub, and steam room went through renovations - but is back open as of July 2026. Don’t forget to budget for a KananaskisConservation Pass (about $15/day) to drive into the park. This is a big splurge but you can often find competitive prices when you compare room rates on hotel booking sites!

Pocaterra Inn & Waterslide | Canmore

The name says it all — this Canmore favourite is so proud of its slide it put it right in the title. And it earns it: the Pocaterra has a three-storey indoor waterslide that guests consistently call the highlight of their stay ("an absolute blast for both kids and adults"). It's a fantastic value pick if you want mountain magic without a resort price tag.

  • The pool and slide are a hotel-guest amenity, and the whirlpool hot tub sits right next to them — so you can soak while the kids do lap after lap.

  • A genuinely good free hot-and-cold breakfast buffet (served on real plates) fuels everyone up before a day of exploring — one less expense and one less morning scramble.

  • Rooms are roomy and family-ready: two-queen rooms or king suites with a jetted tub, plus a mini-fridge, microwave, fireplace, and a balcony with Three Sisters mountain views.

  • Just off Bow Valley Trail — a ~20-minute walk (or quick drive) to downtown Canmore, and minutes to Grassi Lakes, Quarry Lake, and the Nordic Centre. Pet-friendly, too (call ahead for a pet room).

FYI: You can borrow bear spray if you’re heading out for a hike. For the best view of Three Sisters, ask for a higher floor room.

Southern Alberta

Medicine Hat Lodge | Medicine Hat

A staycation classic for southern Alberta families. The Lodge has a full indoor waterpark with a waterslide, a children's pool, and an indoor pool — and waterpark access typically comes free with your stay. There's also a casino and full-service spa for a grown-up evening once the kids crash.

  • Waterpark access included with the room is a rare and welcome perk.

  • Everything under one roof — restaurants, waterpark, spa.

  • A natural halfway point / destination for families in the southeast corner of the province.

FYI: Great option for a multi-family trip — there's enough space that two sets of kids can burn energy without stepping on each other.

Holiday Inn Lethbridge | Lethbridge

Rounding out the south, the Holiday Inn Lethbridge is home to the Mariner's Cove waterpark — a genuinely fun indoor water area that punches above what you'd expect from a standard Holiday Inn. Includes the classic Holiday Inn Experience with included breakfast and the popular pancake machines at breakfast.

  • A dedicated waterpark included with room booking

  • Reliable, family-friendly Holiday Inn standards

  • Convenient base for exploring southern Alberta, from Waterton to the Coulees.

FYI: If you're driving to or from the United States or exploring near Waterton - this one makes a great overnight stop!
