  • Free Friday Night Skate Rentals and Live DJ at City Hall with Ice Grooves
    Bring your cool moves to City Hall Plaza Ice Grooves! Skate and dance along to live DJs every Friday night from 6:00 to 9:00 pm (beginning on Friday, January 5). more details

  • While you’re there, experience moonGARDEN
    moonGARDEN is the art installation in Churchill Square, lighting up the night until January 7, 2024. These inflatable, colored balls have projections, lights and sounds - and even a tiny village inside to discover. It’s a great addition to a trip downtown to skate at Churchill Square.

  • Catch a movie on the big screen for $7.99
    Landmark is showing movies on the big screen for only $7.99 between January 5 and 11. You can catch your choice of movie, just click on showtimes and find the movie you would like to see. You’ll have to be a Landmark Extras member to get in on this deal (it’s free!)

  • Snowshoe & Stargaze at Elk Island National Park
    Experience the wonder of Elk Island’s night sky in the quiet beauty of winter. In the heart of the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve, strap on the provided snowshoes and join a friendly park interpreter for a guided hike to gaze upon the countless stars in our galaxy. register

    Kids will learn fun ways to create their own emoji. We’ll show them how to draw colourful faces and objects. They’ll get hands-on using the Procreate app on iPad with Apple Pencil to draw an emoji to take home. Devices will be provided. more details

  • Michaels Makebreak: Free Sunday Afternoon Crafts
    Michaels’ in-store events are back - it’s a great, free, way to spend an afternoon out creating with a quick, drop-in craft at your local Michaels store. This week, kids will create their own vision board.

    Hit the indoor rink for a free skating session in Strathcona County. Between 1-3pm at Ardrossan Recreation Centre, there is drop-in, free skating. If you’re not ready to bear the cold weather yet, this is a great option to get active, indoors - on the cheap! more details
