Hey pals! This weekend, Fort Edmonton Park OPENS for the season and it’s a wonderful place to spend a day with the family (or register for the eight different options for summer camp!)

Friday

• Millwoods Town Centre Mayday Carnival!
  Join the fun May 16-19, 2025 for rides, games, and carnival food at the Riverview Crossing Mall Midway. Interested in getting tickets? The ‘Ride all Day’ bracelet gives you the best bang for your buck.

• Launchpad Trampoline Park Neon Nights (Friday and Saturday)
  The hottest place to be on Friday and Saturday nights from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM is LaunchPad Trampoline Park. The lights go off and the state of art lasers and black lights are on while the we spin the sickest beats.

• Orcas: Opening Day at Royal Alberta Museum
  Orcas: Our Shared Future is an immersive, interactive exhibition featuring life-size Orca replicas, fossils, films, objects from popular culture, and original artwork from the Indigenous peoples of the North American west coast. Highlights include: 140 original objects and specimens, including an articulated adult female orca skeleton and so much more. Visit us on opening day, May 16 and be among the first to dive deep into this exciting new exhibition, plus you’ll take home a special souvenir pin to mark the occasion! (While supplies last)

Saturday

• Geocache and Explore at City of Edmonton Play Rangers
  This month, families can expect orienteering practice! Want to play with a GPS, maybe look to see if you can find a Geocache or even lean a little about maps? If you do, come check us out, GPS will be provided for the program.

• Family Adventure Club North
  Family Adventure Club North is a free, drop in family-oriented program showcasing the City of Edmonton’s new North East River Valley Park (903 153 Ave NE). Join us for outdoor activities for children ages 6-12. Come dressed for the weather, wear closed-toe shoes and don’t forget water and snacks. Children under 6 need to be accompanied by an adult.

• Alberta Railway Museum Opening Weekend
  This weekend, Alberta Railway Museum opens for the season! Make your way through the trains where you can climb aboard and explore in and on the trains in the yard. Get on a train for a ride, and learn about the history of trains in Alberta.

• City of Edmonton Splash Day
  On May 17th the City of Edmonton is turning on the fountain in front of City Hall. Join the EAC and the City of Edmonton from 3pm – 5pm for FREE entertainment, games and more.

• FREE Edmonton Elks Fan Day
  Family FAN Day is back with the Edmonton Elks! Bring your kids to this all ages fun day at Emerald Hills Sports Pavilion in Sherwood Park. There are family activities, the chance to meet your favourite players and even win a jersey!

• SHREK is Playing for Cineplex $3.99 Family Favourites
  This weekend, catch a true family favourite on the big screen at Cineplex. Get tickets for $3.99 for this family friendly movie!

• Orienteering Pro? Check out the Alberta Championships!
  The Middle (May 17) and Long (May 18) championships will all be held at the Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, about 40 minutes east of Edmonton, south of Elk Island Park. The Saturday event also includes the finale for the kids in our Kids Run Wild spring series and their families.

• The Art Cart Returns to Churchill Square
  This weekend when you’re exploring Splash Day and Movies on the Square, you can find the Art Gallery of Alberta Art Cart on site at the Square. Join us in the square for art explorations and fun! Each week, we explore new art materials and techniques!

Sunday

• Snow Valley Aerial Park Opens for the Season
  Climb your way through the Aerial Park as it opens for the season. To get the best bang for your buck, you can get your hands on twilight tickets, at a reduced rate.

Monday

• Pop into the Apple Store for a FREE Registered coding program: Code Your First App. Code and create as a family with Swift Playground using iPad. Kids will experiment with code and design an app using the About Me playground. They’ll use Swift code to customize their app with fun fonts, background colours, emoji and more. Then you’ll work together to bring their app to life. Recommended for kids ages 10 and up. Devices will be provided.

• Drop in Stand up Paddleboarding in the pool. Kids can build confidence using the stand up paddleboaring at Kinsmen Sports Centre.
