It’s the kick off to the last week of school and when I say that we’ve been waiting all month for this - we’ve really been waiting all month for this. We’re ramping up on summer holidays around here with the best things to eat, drink, see and do in Edmonton. Here are the best things to do in Edmonton this weekend - with kids:

Friday

  • Hit the Carnival at St. Albert Centre | $50
    The carnival is coming to St. Albert Centre. Grab a ride all day pass to get the best bang for your buck and kick off the last week of school with a celebration at the midway.

  • Take a Workshop at The Circus Arts Festival | Free
    This weekend kicks off the Alberta Circus Arts Festival where you can catch a circus performance in the outdoors or take a free circus workshop. Find something for everyone while you discover circus arts in our city.

  • Halloween in JUNE and FIREWORKS at Edmonton Riverhawks Game
    The ballpark is going DARK! We re teaming up with the spooky crew from Fort Edmonton Park for a night packed with visits from Mr. Dark and his eerie entourage, apple bobbing, mountains of candy, and yes a fire-juggling unicyclist because obviously that's how we do Halloween. Kids under 12 get in FREE with a costume on.

This weekend, Hope City is popping up with THREE Block Parties, at THREE different locations across the city. Each location will be packed with games, inflatables, prizes, food, and so much more. It’s the perfect way to kick off your summer – and it’s completely free.

Saturday

  • Grand Trunk Recreation Centre Open House | Free
    This spring and summer, the City of Edmonton will be hosting a series of free open houses at neighbourhood recreation centres, so Edmontonians can experience the amenities found in their neighbourhood.

  • The Works Art & Design Festival | Free
    Free workshops and festival exhibits at Churchill Square. Bring your swimsuit to cool off with a romp in City Hall Fountain!

  • Grindstone Theatre Puppet Workshop | $$
    A 1-day introduction to puppetry workshop. Participants will develop skills in puppet manipulation and character development. They will have the opportunity to design and create their own puppets using a variety of materials, such as paper, card, fabric, and other craft supplies.

  • Edmonton Fire Station Open House | Free
    Each year, Edmontonians can meet firefighters and fire prevention officers in their community, check out the fire trucks and learn important fire safety information during Fire Station Open Houses and tours.

Sunday

  • Pets in the Park Festival | Free
    Back for another day of festival fun in the sun, we’re ready to paw-ty. Come celebrate the special bond we have with our pets as we raise funds supporting EHS, and enjoy a day full of pawesome events and activities for people and pets.

  • Catch ‘Over the Rainbow’ Storytime | Free
    Enjoy stories, songs, and rhymes that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and acceptance. Suitable for the whole family.

    Jasper Place Recreation Centre Open House | Free
    The City of Edmonton is hosting free open houses at various recreation centers throughout the spring and summer.
