Discovery Canyon Opens for the Season June 1, 2026
Summer is just around the corner, and that means one thing - Discovery Canyon is ready to welcome visitors back for another season of outdoor fun.
Discovery Canyon is a go-to day from Edmonton, just ninety minutes outside of the city, blending water park with the laid-back vibe of a riverside picnic. The draw for this summer adventure is the river slide, where you can float along on tubes and enjoy a relaxing ride under the sun.
The sandy shoreline provides a safe, shallow area for younger kids to splash and play, while nearby green spaces provide the perfect space to spread out a blanket, enjoy a picnic while the kids are sliding down the tubing course. Don’t skip the playground, for some non-water fun!
Discovery Canyon Opens for the Season June 1, 2026
Discovery Canyon opens for the season June 1, 2026 and operates through the end of summer, making opening day an eagerly anticipated kickoff to summer fun near Edmonton. Whether you’re planning a full day with family or just stopping by for a quick float, it’s a place your kids are going to want to return to, again and again.
Here’s what you need to know before you visit Discovery Canyon
Discovery Canyon Park is free to the general public, however tube rentals are done through a bracelet system and are $7/ person. You could also bring your own tube - and make this a fun (and super cheap) day out with the kids.
Bring your own food! There are plenty of picnic areas on site. Not a planner (we’re here for that) and you can always have something delivered to the park!
Don’t skip the mosquito spray!
The small wading area is a mini beach for young children - bring sand toys!
There’s a playground and bathrooms on site - making it easy to spend the full day.
The tubing course is steady enough for adults to accompany the youngest members of your family - or go down on their own!
