Here’s How We’re Making our Home Cozier this Fall

This year, we’re coasting into the cozy season in a few simple, practical ways to make our space feel warmer. There’s softening up the interior, with softer spaces, textured blankets and candlelight at dusk, but this is also a great time of year to make sure that your home is ready for winter, structurally.

Here’s How We’re Creating a Cozier Home this Fall

We’re Bringing out the Blankets

It’s not fall until the cozy blankets come out at home. Mix layers of fabrics and textures, with styles of blankets for a comfortable place to land after a cool walk home from school. Our favourites must-be washable, because soft seating is always a high traffic area when we’re trying to warm up.

We’re Sipping Something Seasonal

Last fall, we a created little beverage station to make our morning feel a little more special. We like to add in some seasonal favourites - like tiny marshmallows, some seasonal teas, or a bit of pumpkin spice. Making mornings more special, and more cozy? Easy.

We’re Embracing Soft Lighting

Soft, warm lighting sets the mood. We swap bright bulbs for warm-toned ones, light a few candles at dinner, or use fairy lights throughout the living area to create that golden-hour glow that just feels cozier.

We’re Checking the House

Fall is the time when you’ll probably start to notice a draft creeping in. If that’s the case, we learned this week from our friends at Centra Install Pros that fall was actually one of the best times to have new windows installed. The prices are lower, the wait times are shorter and your home will be more energy-efficient for winter. Until October 31, you can take advantage of family pricing.

Centra Install Pros offers one of the best warranties in the Edmonton market; a full thirty-years of coverage for the product, installation and any labour. Plus, the warranty is fully transferable, just in case you’ve found somewhere new to cozy up in.
