Take a Baking Class at Bakenary Pastries and Learn to Make Macarons with Your Kids

Edmonton parents, if you’re looking for a fun (and delicious) Christmas experience gift that gets your kids - and you - in the kitchen in Edmonton, we’ve got a class for you. The macaron-making class we recently tried at Bakenary Pastries is one of the most interesting experiences we’ve had in the kitchen in Edmonton, where we learned to make the incredible macarons served up in store.

Bakenary Pastries has such a warm, inspiring story behind it. The shop was founded in 2022 by Darya Naidenkova and Tarek Aboubou, who moved from Dubai to Canada, bringing with them a huge passion for baking; especially the art of the macaron. When they first arrived, they started small at the Bountiful Farmers’ Market, offering beautifully crafted macarons that quickly gained them a loyal following. Over two years, their booth became a must-stop spot for anyone with a sweet tooth. Now, you’ll find the shop at 5732 75 Street NW.

Bakenary Pastries Macaron Baking Classes in Edmonton

This is a hands-on macaron baking class, perfect for aspiring bakers and dessert lovers! The class features not only round shaped macarons, but: snowman, bear, reindeer and even a wreath in their seasonal classes.

Classes are designed in small group format, with up to 12 participants. In the class, you and your child will master the art of making French macarons using the Italian meringue method.

Under expert guidance, you'll bake macarons from scratch, learning to create the classic round shape of piping, making chocolate ganache and assembling. • At the end of the session, take home a dozen of your beautifully crafted macarons to share (or savor yourself!) as well as a printed recipe book from chef Darya for your to perfect your skills, at home. You’ll even get a list of where to buy ingredients!

  • This three-hour baking experience is kid-friendly, with a parent and child. We’ve added this one to our best experience gifts for teens in Edmonton, but children as young as ten interested in getting in the kitchen would thrive in this baking workshop.
