The Alberta Railway museum is open on summer weekends this year, from the May (Victoria Day) long weekend to the September (Labour Day) long weekend, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our kids have never been more excited to climb on a train, in and out of the cars, and experience the local gem of a museum.Here's what you should know before you go:
- Skip the flip flops. There are a lot of train cars, tracks and stairs to climb up when you're exploring the trains in the yard - wear sandals that secure in the back to make it easier to adventure.
- Leave the stroller at home. If possible, skip the stroller - there aren't a lot of stroller friendly paths here
- Bring a picnic. Come for the day and bring a picnic so you can eat near the train yard on one of the picnic tables.
- Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours exploring the Train yard through the outdoor spaces in the indoor museum
- How much does it cost to visit? Admission for adults is $12. Admission for children is six dollars, and children three and under are free of charge
- The locomotives and trains run only on long weekends and at the top of every hour from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Ice cream and treats are available in the gift card to cool off after a hot day
