Weekday Fun Guide: What to do in Edmonton with Kids this Week - January 19-23, 2026

This spring, build community through sport with South Edmonton Warriors Lacrosse Club. Registration is open NOW for children from ages 5-17, with weekly practices and games scheduled April to June. Whether your child is picking up a lacrosse stick for the first time or returning for another season, the Warriors program offers a welcoming environment to learn and compete. With the season just around the corner, now is the perfect time to sign up and be part of Edmonton’s thriving lacrosse community.

  • Busy Bodies Drop in Playgroup
    Is your child full of energy? Bring them to this active group where they will develop physical literacy through games, music and activities such as dancing, and parachute play. Come join in the fun and meet other families!

  • FREE Tuesdays Together on the Ship
    Come one, come all and join us for a fun and delicious gathering. Come hungry and ready to connect with others in the community. Let's enjoy some tasty treats and great company together. There will be stories, games, and food. See you there!

  • For Girls by Girls Drop in Sports
    Come out and discover sports, develop skills, and have fun during this free program for girls ages 8-17! This program is facilitated by University of Alberta athletes.

  • FREE Try It - Para Nordic Skiing
    Experience Para-Nordic! Trial of adaptive ski equipment, techniques, and methods in sit-ski or standing ski categories, including guided skiing for visually impaired. The sleds or sit-skis are available for participants to use during the program.

  • Public Swim with Inflatables at Eastglen Leisure Centre
    Climb, jump, and slide at Eastglen - the most fun you can have in the water! This public swim will include the  inflatable obstacle course, with platforms to jump from, a climbing arch and two slides! Lifejackets are recommended. A successful 25 metre swim test is required. Children under 8 require a responsible person aged 15 or older to be within arm's reach at all times.

  • Tea, Bannock and Winter Storytelling
    Join us for an evening of tea, bannock, and winter storytelling with Dwayne Donald. As you sip warm tea and enjoy some bannock, Dwayne will share stories that resonate with the spirit of winter, inviting reflection and connection to the land. Whether you’re seeking to learn more about Indigenous storytelling traditions or simply to gather with others, this free, all-ages event offers something for everyone.

    Malmo Pre-Kindergarten is a non-profit, parent-cooperative preschool for children ages three to five years old located in southwest Edmonton. There are two, three and five day options available. Come learn more about the program, visit the classroom and meet the teachers at the Preschool Open House.

  • Tours for Tots at Art Gallery of Alberta
    On our last visit to Shift: Marie Lannoo and Katie Ohe explore the relationship between colour and movement. Create a kinetic sculpture using wood blocks, wire and beads.

  • FREE Indoor Soccer Drop-in
    Come kick with us this winter and early spring at our free indoor soccer sessions, perfect for kids and families looking to stay active indoors. While the games are going on downstairs, enjoy our family lounge upstairs, featuring games, board games, and kid-friendly TV shows—making it a fun and welcoming space for everyone.
