Does anyone else feel like we’re in summer mode, early? In our house, it’s all adventure, spending time outdoors, late bedtimes and fun mode. The long-weekend brings plenty of activities and events to embrace that attitude - so let’s get down to it. Here’s everything to do with kids this long weekend in Edmonton.

Friday

Superhero Fun Skate at Leduc Recreation Centre
Select Fridays feature a family fun skate, with music, themes and entertainment for families. This Friday, it’s superhero theme, so grab your costume (and your helmets) and hit the ice for a fun family skating session.

Midway Fair at Millwoods Town Centre
The fair is coming to Millwoods Town Centre this weekend for fair rides, midway games and family fun. Don’t skip those mini doughnuts and take advantage of the ride all day bracelet option for a full day of fun for $40/person.

Get up and Close with Songbirds at Beaverhill Bird Observatory
This annual spring migration of songbirds occurs from May until early June, with end of May being the peak in songbird abundance. Birds captured include warblers, nuthatches, woodpeckers, thrushes, blackbirds, orioles, sparrows and more! Join our biologists for a morning in the woods to learn about the research being conducted on our feathery friends and see live birds up close and personal!

Inflatables in the Pool at Emerald Hills Leisure Centre

Alberta Railway Museum Opens for the Season
The museum is open on weekends through the summer, from the May (Victoria Day) long weekend to the September (Labour Day) long weekend, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Explore, and climb on trains - at this incredible, hands-on, museum.

Explore with Experts at Miquelon Lake
On Saturday, explore with Alberta Parks experts at Miquelon Lake with two sessions for exploring families. At 10am, you can check out “Bugs Abound” to learn more about insects and invertabrates. At 2pm, you can join for ‘A peek in the pond’ and discover what kind of critters call the pond home. Meet at the visitor centre - and both events are free.

Take an Art Class
There are two options for art classes this weekend at Art Gallery in St. Albert - Artventures, for children 6-12, where themes vary each month, providing a fun opportunity to explore new skills and techniques while learning essential art fundamentals. Next up, for the younger crowd is Preschool Picasso, with collage, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and more are designed to help your child learn basic art fundamentals.

Opening Weekend at Fort Edmonton Park
Fort Edmonton Park offers a variety of options so you can create your own unique experience, time after time. From stories that matter to midway fun to spending time with those you love, Fort Edmonton Park has it all. Day pass admission is $26.20 for adults, $20.90 for youth or $95 for a family day pass.
