Drop in Night Sky Viewing at University of Alberta Observatory

  • Edmonton, AB, T6G 2E9 Canada (map)

Each Thursday, families are invited to visit the University of Alberta’s Department of Physics Astronomical Observatory for free, drop-in sky viewing. In daytime hours (around 12 – 1 pm) you can safely look at the Sun through special telescopes and learn about sunspots and other solar features. During the fall and winter university term, evening sessions (times vary by season) offer views of stars, planets and constellations through powerful telescopes. No booking or experience is needed — just come by, ask questions, and enjoy exploring the sky together. Dress warmly for outdoor weather; the observatory may close if temperatures drop to −20 °C or colder.
