The Alberta Legislature kicks off December with Light Up, when the grounds and the big Christmas tree are switched on for the season with a countdown on the outdoor stage.

On light-up night, the Visitor Centre opens for free family activities, live music and hot chocolate, with donations collected for United Way.

The celebration continues through December with free holiday concerts in the Legislature rotunda. School choirs, community bands and local ensembles take turns performing on Fridays at noon and on Friday and Saturday evenings. Seating is limited, and visitors enter through the west doors and go through security screening.
