Fort Edmonton Park marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by opening the Indigenous Peoples Experience for a day of learning, reflection, and honouring residential school survivors, their families, and the children who never came home.

The day begins with an Opening Ceremony open to everyone, followed by sessions led by Indigenous speakers and knowledge keepers. Topics include what truth and reconciliation means, trauma and healing, the Sixties Scoop, and the Indian Disc Identification System, along with a Maskwa Medicines healing circle in the Medicine Garden.

Admission is $5 for ages 12 and up and free for kids 11 and under. Indigenous guests get in free. All proceeds support the development of Indigenous programming at the park.

Only the Indigenous Peoples Experience is open, and a free shuttle runs from the main parking lot. Strollers and wagons aren't permitted on the shuttle or on site.
