Old Strathcona kicks off the holidays with its ninth annual Winter Whyte Light Up, a free, all-ages celebration in the heart of the district.
Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park is transformed with festive light displays across the gazebo, trees and pathways, many created by local artists. Nearby, the Edmonton Streetcar offers short rides on its decorated Christmas car, departing from behind the Arts Barns.
The evening is packed with family-friendly fun: live ice carving, roving entertainers, Indigenous cultural activities, community booths and story time at the library. The Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market and Edmonton Public Library host free indoor activities when little hands need warming up.
On the main stage, the Winter Whyte Variety Show brings four hours of local musicians, youth performers, theatre groups and more.
