Crestwood Community Playground

Introduction to Crestwood Community Playground

The double zipline is why you come. Ziplines are rare enough in Edmonton; two side by side is rarer still, and one of them is accessible, so a kid who can't manage the standard platform can still ride.

But Crestwood earns its reputation as one of the city's classic playgrounds for more than that. The main structure is built in a square with the monkey bars tucked underneath, so climbers get something like twelve different routes up. There's a proper old-fashioned merry-go-round. And the toddler park is lovely - a mini climbing wall and a retro duck rider that will send parents straight back to their own childhood.

It's rubber-based throughout, there's real shade over the benches, and there are two more playgrounds across the street. It's a hard combination to beat.

Three Playgrounds, One Stop

Don't leave after one. Cross the street and there are two more: the playground at Crestwood School — three tall slides, a tall fire pole, a set of climbing walls and four swings — and the playground at St. Paul School. Three playgrounds within a block is unusual anywhere in the city, and it makes Crestwood one of the easiest places to spend a whole afternoon with kids of different ages and different nerve levels.
