Maple Playground

Introduction to Maple Playground

The climber is the whole point. The giant net structure at Maple Crest is one of the most striking play features anywhere in Edmonton — a curving web of rope and steel that pulls families in from across the city and holds even confident climbers for a good long while.

But it isn't a one-trick park. Look down and you'll find maple leaf jumping pads underfoot; look sideways and there are musical devices to bang on, an expression swing where a caregiver and baby swing face to face, and a smaller structure scaled for the youngest visitors. The whole thing was designed for ages 2 to 12+ with accessibility built in from the start — ramps run all the way up and down the main structure, communication boards and educational panels are worked into the play, and the recycled wood-fibre surfacing is passable for wheelchairs and mobility aids. It's a southeast Edmonton playground that earns the drive.
