Introduction to Shauna May Seneca School Playground

Come for the zipline spinner. Stay because your kids won't get off it.

This Walker schoolyard was home to one of the first zipline spinning swings in Edmonton, and it's still the reason families drive out here. It's a hybrid: part zipline, part merry-go-round, part centrifuge — you push, it flies, it spins, everyone screams. Set aside a realistic amount of your visit for pushing, because that's how the visit is going to go.

The rest of the playground earns its keep, though. There's a proper main structure with slides and climbers, a dome climber scaled small enough that toddlers can actually use it, and — the detail that makes this a genuinely good mixed-age stop — a separate toddler playground right beside the main one. Bring a two-year-old and a nine-year-old and neither one is stuck waiting.

And then there's the pump track. A small one, off to the left side of the playground. Bring a bike or a strider and you've turned a playground stop into an afternoon.

Playground Features

  • Main play structure with slides and a variety of climbers

  • Dome climber, sized small enough for younger children

  • Separate toddler playground adjacent to the main structure

  • Merry-go-round

  • Accessible swing

  • Small pump track for bikes and striders, on the left side of the playground

Practical Info for Visiting

  • This is a school playground — visit evenings, weekends, or during school breaks

  • Bring wheels. The pump track is a real bonus and most visitors don't know it's there.

  • The wood chip surfacing is tidier than sand, but it makes for a harder push if you're using a wheelchair, walker or stroller — worth knowing before you drive out

  • Strong choice for mixed-age families thanks to the side-by-side toddler and big-kid areas

  • Grass field beyond the playground for running off whatever's left
