Road Trip: Kinosoo Beach has a Inflatable Obstacle Course, Splash Park and Zipline into the Lake
Make the most of summer at one of the hubs of lake-days in Alberta - Kinosoo Beach in Cold Lake. It’s one of the most popular road trips from Edmonton and a running placement in our best beaches and lakes near Edmonton. In 2025, the city approved a brand new element of fun - a floating obstacle course or the new Cold Lake Aqua Splash.
Ultimate Guide to Kinosoo Beach in Cold Lake, Alberta
Ride the Zipline into the water, Splash in the Park and Inflatable Obstacle Course - Fun at Kinosoo Beach
TheZipline! Best for little to tweens, the free zip line kicks off at a tower accessible with just a few short stairs on the beach. Grab the tow line, and zoom into the water for a fun way to make a splash! It’s perfect for little kids, because it’s not too fast but still exciting enough for tween.
SplashPark! We love a splash park at a beach (selfishly because the kids can rinse off any lingering grains of sand from the day at the lake) and it’s just a great way to get a final cool-off without being covered in sand (especially if you’re making this one a day trip).
Wibit! Cold Lake Aqua Rush is $15/hour and includes a fun inflatable set-up on the beach where kids can climb, slide and maneuver across the course. This incredible add-on is perfect for tweens and teens, with plans of a toddler sized park in the future.
Our family visits Cold Lake as a beach day-trip, a few times a summer. Though long, the kids are quick to fall asleep on the way home - even the older ones. Leaving early in the morning, packing snacks and lunch and bringing everything we need with us makes it an inexpensive day trip option at the lake. If you don’t make it a day trip, there are many affordable, mid-range hotels in Cold Lake, a popular option being the Holiday Inn Express & Suites with the pool and contintental breakfast pancake machine.
