If your kid is curious about how apps actually get made, Apple's Today at Apple program is running a free coding session at Apple West Edmonton worth booking.
Kids team up with a parent or guardian to design an app from scratch using Swift Playground on iPad. They'll use real Swift code to customize their app — fonts, background colours, emoji, and more — with Apple staff guiding them through it. Devices are provided, so there's nothing to bring but curiosity.
It's recommended for kids ages 10 and up, and a parent or legal guardian needs to register and stay in-store for the full session.
