Morinville kicks off the holiday season with a full weekend of free family fun, from a festive dance party to a glowing parade and fireworks.
Friday night starts with a holiday video dance party at the Morinville Community Cultural Centre. Come in Christmas PJs or your favourite festive sweater for glitter tattoos, a photo booth, dance floor games and a visit from the Green Christmas Grouch. Tickets are free and open to the public on November 5, and guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Ronald McDonald House Magic Room.
Saturday’s Festive Family Festival fills the day with cookie decorating, holiday crafts, face painting, live performances and photos with Santa. That evening, warm up with free hot chocolate at the library before the parade rolls down 100 Avenue, followed by the lighting of St. Jean Baptiste Park and fireworks over town.
On Sunday, the Morinville Leisure Centre hosts a free family skate under festive lights, plus snowflake crafts and a visit from the Royal Ice Sisters. Bring your own skates; helmets are required for anyone under 18.
Both the dance party and family festival have a quiet activity room for kids who need a break from the bustle.
