Respect for nature and its interconnectedness is a central tenet of indigenous cultures. For many, the land, plants and animals are honoured as relatives, teachers and spiritual messengers. Learn more about these valuable relationships through story sharing, artmaking and the photography of Metis artist Nahanni McKay.
Free Family Nature Walk in Whitemud Park
Explore the Whitemud Creek ravine to look for lady slippers, shooting stars, and other neat wildflowers! Along the way we'll also keep an eye out for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators joining in our wildflower search. Grace Kwong from the Edmonton Nature Club and Nature Alberta's Nick Carter will show participants how to find and identify plants, pollinators, and other ravine residents, and we'll record our findings on iNaturalist as part of the Alberta Biodiversity Challenge!
