Cold Lake Aqua Rush at Kinosoo Beach: Family Guide (2026)
Alberta's newest floating waterpark landed at one of Canada's best beaches. Cold Lake Aqua Rush — new in 2025 and back for 2026 — is a Wibit inflatable waterpark anchored on the lake at Kinosoo Beach, with slides, climbing structures, floating walkways and obstacle courses. Add Kinosoo's free zipline, splash park, and three blocks of sandy beach, and you've got the most complete beach-plus-waterpark day in Alberta. This one is best for older kids - they must be 6+ to climb!
This is part of our full guide to the best outdoor waterparks in Alberta.
What Is Aqua Rush?
A locally owned inflatable obstacle course, powered by Wibit inflatables is set up on the east side of Kinosoo Beach. Kids and adults climb, slide, bounce, and inevitably splash their way across the course. It’s the most fun way you’ll move your body this summer - great for tweens and teens especially, with plans for a toddler-sized park in the future.
Know Before You Go
Location: East side of Kinosoo Beach, Cold Lake (~3 hours from Edmonton)
Cost: $15/person + GST per hourly session (2025 pricing — confirm for 2026). Book and pay at the kiosk on the east side of the beach.
The Rest of Kinosoo Beach Is Free
This is what makes Cold Lake special — the waterpark is an add-on to a beach day that costs nothing:
The zipline: a free tower zipline that sends you flying out over the water before you drop into the lake. Gentle enough for littles, fun enough for tweens.
Splash park: perfect for younger siblings, and great for rinsing off sand at day's end
Beach: three blocks of sand on water clear enough that Canadian Geographic once named it one of Canada's Top 25 Beaches
Plus: playground, beach volleyball and basketball courts, floating docks, walking paths, and a full-service concession
Parent Tips
An hour on the course is plenty for most kids — the lake is cold, and the course is harder than you think - so an hour is generally more than enough (even for the teens!)
Mixed ages work perfectly here: big kids on Aqua Rush, littles at the splash park and playground, everyone at the zipline.
Pack a full beach day: lunch, umbrella, sand toys. Free parking runs along the street parallel to the beach and you can find plenty of space on the sand!
Make It a Weekend
It's far less crowded than Sylvan Lake - this is the insider's pick for summer fun. We do it in a day trip - but our kids have been day tripping since they were infants.
Three hours is long for a day trip (though plenty of families do it — kids sleep the whole way home). Cold Lake has municipal and provincial campgrounds, plus affordable hotels; the Holiday Inn Express with its pool and pancake machine is a family favourite. Cold Lake Provincial Park's beach and trails add a second day of fun that will have the kids keeping cool!
